Bock & Co. turned their lithographic skills to specialist music printing in a period when much of the sheet music circulating in New Zealand was printed in England or continental Europe. They had mastered the transfer process from manuscript to litho stone which ensured that music notation (the most difficult form of typesetting) could be speedily, accurately, and economically printed. Their skilful covers demonstrate that they were on an equal footing with their overseas peers, who produced this London edition with its fascinatingly different cover image.
