Wood-nymphs in Wilton's Bush.

Please see Alexander Turnbull Library, Timeframes Conditions of Use for this image.

In 1925, the New Zealand Government Printing Office in collaboration with the Wellington Chamber of Commerce published Wellington, the capital city of New Zealand; the best base for tours as an incentive for the tourist trade. The slim booklet was edited by Leo S. Fanning and featured what were considered the main attractions of the time. This colour shot of six young women dressed in classical costume, dancing in a ring in a clearing at Wilton Bush, has been reproduced with one of the photo mechanical processes common to the time.
