Ad from Typo of 50th Anniversary of Company (1890)
By 1890, Lyon & Blair could celebrate fifty years
of successful manufacturing and commerce; such
longevity was unprecedented in the volatile colonial
economy. Robert Coupland Harding included the firm's
anniversary keepsake in his landmark journal Typo, A Monthly Newspaper and Literary
Review devoted to the Advancement of the Typographic
Art. The compositor or typesetter of this
keepsake, E. E. Wright, went on to partnership with
Harding when the latter moved to Wellington from
Napier.
