Blue Beret

Blue Beret

I gave my beret
a twirl
on its nipple

sent it
flying
on a course

that knocked
the alarm
clock sideways

It was the day
President Kennedy
was shot

The red Bell
radio stood silent
on the personality

cabinet with peg
legs and bottom
drawer that always stuck

I picked up
the beret
and turned it

until the bullet
left its blue
body
