WHO EDITS?
Who edits what you read? The editor at the pub-
lishing house, sure. But what about all the books
that you don’t see – have you ever thought about
that? Every year there’s a million-something new
books produced and your bookshop selects, what,
15,000? Of course, some books you don’t have
to see – exactly how many copies of Eat My
Boots by the latest All Black sensation do you
want? And everyone stocks Bulibasha. But in
between? The quizzical books, the elliptical ones,
the ones that resonate – are you seeing those?
Who edits the books that you are seeing?
A reader? Or a product manager?
