1.
She ran away and didn’t miss home. Then the world around her just forgot: who it was and how. In its forgetting, it became a storm.

2.
The trees became storm. So did the road. The river knew nothing anymore about flowing one way or another.

3.
She tried to go home, but her family were in hiding from the wind and the rain. She took shelter inside the empty house, but it too became storm.

4.
Stepping outside she noticed a silence. The storm had abated. So too had the world’s amnesia. But it now remembered things that she did not.

5.
A chorus of baskets cycled by on their beloved bicycles. Peculiar, peculiar. She must be sometime in the past.

6.
When she found her feet again she walked until she reached the sea. I have walked so far! she said. Snow fell on the beach and that was like nothing she had seen before.

7.
She wished for her family so they too could see the shore and feel the snow. Amazed, they’d ask her how it came to be. When you wound up the clock, she’d say, and battened down the hatches, I was already fading, looking for a way to vanish.
