The game

We played   a kind of game   do you remember
of course   you do & do
not    lifted up my arms
so you could see what was threaded & blue
the undersides of course   a kind of strategy
you do   I wore my sunglasses that day   that’s all
you wore your arriving look   lifted
the page to see what was written on the back
or not   to see that   what angles
what moves   drew us into this
heave & pant this lovely   grasping
just a game    the cracks
expanded   like I didn’t   and you
a visitor   on your knees
fingering for the die
we never had   could never lose
