MAJOR NOAKE

Major M. Noake (pages 311–312) was an imperial Cavalry officer before coming to New Zealand. He served in the Scots Greys in the

Crimea, and was severely wounded at Balaclava. He was in command of the Wanganui Military District for some time, and afterwards settled at Onoke, Hokianga.
