The Maori Contingent, reorganised as a Pioneer Battalion after its Gallipoli service, consisted of the following:—
| First Maori Contingent—February 14th, 1915 | 518 |
| Second Draft—September 19th, 1915 | 312 |
| Third Draft—February 6th, 1916 | 110 |
| Reinforcements to October 18th, 1918 | 1287 |
| Total of all ranks | 2227 |
The South Sea Islands troops enlisted for service with the New Zealanders were:—
| Niué (Savage Island) natives—February 6th, 1916 | 148 |
| Rarotonga and other Cook Islands natives—first draft February 6th, 1916 | 50 |
| Rarotongans—second draft, November 16th, 1916 | 115 |
| Rarotongans—third draft, June 3, 1918 | 145 |
| Total | 458 |
