The Hon. Sir Francis Dillon Bell

The Hon. Sir Francis Dillon Bell, K.C.M.G., C.B., was a member of the first Ministry, and acted as Colonial Treasurer from the 7th till the 20th of May, 1856. In the Domett Government he was Minister for Native Affairs from August, 1862, till the end of October, 1863, and for a short time held the Treasurership, and was Commissioner of Customs. The honourable gentleman was a member of the Executive Council in the third Fox Ministry from July, 1869, to August, 1871, but held no portfolio. A full account of Sir Dillon Bell's career is given under the head of “Ex Speakers of the House of Representatives.”
