Mr. Robert Burrett was first returned to the Council at a bye-election held in May, 1873, to fill the seat vacated by Mr. W. M. Bannatyne. He continued a member till February, 1875, when he resigned his position. Mr. Burrett, who was a well-known stationer and printer, died in 1886.
