Langham House

Langham House (Mrs. Woolcock, proprietress), Walton Street, Whangarei. This establishment is a two-storey building situated on a section adjoining the Whangarei railway station and is one of the leading houses of its kind in the district. From its proximity to the station it is very convenient to the travelling public and the neat appearance of the house and grounds is attractive to both strangers and permanent residents. There are twelve bed-rooms, whilst on the ground floor are to be found a handsome and spacious hall, large commecial room, comfortably furnished sitting room, and a dining-room with seating accommodation for thirty persons. The charges are very moderate and an excellent table is provided. The hostess, assisted by her daughter, does all in her power to make her guests feel at home. As a private family hotel it is perhaps unsurpassed, no expense having been spared in refitting and furnishing the establishment. The large lofty stables are a feature worthy of mention in connection with Langham House; they were originally intended by Dr. Purehas (who at one time lived here) for a private hospital, and were afterwards converted to their present use. Visitors to Whangarei are confidently recommended to pay a visit to Langham House.
