Pokeno Valley

Pokeno Valley.

Pokeno Valley is forty-two miles south from Auckland, and two miles distant by road from Pokeno railway station. It is in the Manukau County, and is a portion of the Pokeno road district. Like Pokeno, the valley is a rich dairy farming locality, and is peopled with successful settlers.

Elliott, George William, Farmer, “Meadow Head,” Pokeno Valley. Mr. Elliott was born in Bedford, England, in 1869, and came out to New Zealand by the ship “Jessy Osborne,” when he was ten years of age. After attending the Parnell Grammar School, he learned the business of a butcher, and established himself at Mercer in 1889. Since 1894 Mr. Elliott has resided on the property of 165 acres, which he at present farms under lease. He was married, in 1892, to a daughter of the late Mr. J. C. McNeish, of Pokeno Valley, and has two sons and three daughters.
