Mr. Robert Evan Lake, Organist of Holy Trinity Church, Avonside, was born in 1880 in Christchurch. He studied music for several years and was a member of the Cathedral choir. He received instruction on the organ under Mr. Tendall for a short time, and was afterwards under the tuition of Mr. Davis Hunt, organist of St. Michael's. Mr. Lake was appointed to the position he now holds in 1901.
