Mr. F. Narby

Mr. F. Narby was born in 1829 at Rouen, the ancient capital of Normandy, in France. He took to a seafaring life, and came to New Zealand in 1849, in the ship “Angelina.” After staying at Akaroa for five years he visited the goldfields of Australia and Tasmania, where he remained fourteen months, but then returned to New Zealand and purchased the first part of Long Bay estate. He had many difficulties to contend with, but he overcame them all. Mr. Narby was married, in 1857, to Miss McGee, and has eight sons and six daughters.
