St. John's Church

St. John's Church , High Street, Roslyn, is a plain wooden building with seating accommodation for about 350 persons. A large Sunday school, also of wood, adjoins the church. There is a surpliced choir and a good pipe organ. The church was opened in 1880, with the Rev. R. A. Kerkham as its first minister. He was succeeded by Canon Diggens, who retired in 1895, and was soon replaced by Canon Mayne. As the parish is large and scattered, services are held at St. Albans, Kaikorai Valley, and Halfway Bush. Assistance is given by a deaconess and three lay readers.
