page 430 Guernsey. He accompanied his mother to Lyttelton in 1863, subsequently studied theology under the Presbytery of Castlemaine, and completed his theological studies in Launceston, Tasmania. He was ordained in 1881, and first had charge of Tamar, and later on was in charge of Hagley and Deloraine for eight years. In 1891 Mr. Tennent received a call to Stowell, Victoria, and five years afterwards came to New Zealand in answer to a call to the Port Chalmers Church. Mr. Tennent is a Prohibitionist, and has always taken a leading part in all the social movements in Port Chalmers.
