The Hawera Chamber Of Commerce was established on the 20th of May, 1895, on which date the first general meeting was held. Officers for the year 1906: Mr. J. Brunette, president: Mr. C. O. Ekdahl, vice-president; Mr. J. Foy, secretary and treasurer, and a general committee of fifteen. There is a membership of about eighty, and meetings are held monthly at the Borough Council offices. A general annual meeting is held in the mouth of October, and special meetings when required. Considerable activity is displayed in connection with all matters affecting the well-being of Hawera and the surrounding districts.
