Note

In 1986, in preparation for the 40th anniversary of Fulbright in New Zealand, the New Zealand Council for Educational Research (under contract to the New Zealand-United States Educational Foundation) began to trace all past grantees in order to find out what had happened to them since the time of their award and also to invite them to contribute anecdotes and recollections of their time in New Zealand or the United States.

The purpose was dual:

  1. To obtain subjective material for this history of Fulbright in New Zealand.
  2. To obtain statistical data as an aid to formulation of future policy.

The Report on the Fulbright Survey (February 1988) was prepared by Geraldine McDonald, Pam Kennedy and Barb Bishop.
