Reports of the Native Affairs Committee, 1903.

[No. 271, 1903.—Petition of Heni te Rau (Mrs. Brown), of Kohimarama, Auckland. (No. 2.)]

No. 271, 1903.—Petition of Heni te Rau (Mrs. Brown), of Kohimarama, Auckland. (No. 2.)

Petitioner prays that an award, by the West Coast (North Island) Commission, of 3,000 acres of land, made in 1867, to the Ngatimutunga Hapu, may be carried into effect.

I am directed to report that, as it appears that the land set aside to meet the award referred to has been otherwise disposed of, the Committee strongly recommends that the Government should allocate other land equal in value to the 3,000 acres which should have been given to Ngatimutunga, and hand the same over to the survivors of that hapu.
