RICHMOND, Christopher William 1821–1895

Amateur painter, brother of the noted painter J. C. Richmond: admitted to the Bar in London. Arrived Auckland 1853 to join his brother and other members of the family: all in Taranaki. One of page 205 the leaders of the Government by 1856–61: withdrew from the Government to practice as a lawyer in Dunedin in 1862, and then became a judge. His delicate skilful pencil drawings once in the General Assembly Library are now in Turnbull.
