DAVIDSON, Mrs James, later Mrs Cuningham Smith

Dunedin landscape painter, exhibited with OAS 1876–93 as Mrs Davidson; about May 1894 married again to a William Cuningham Smith and exhibited as Mrs Cuningham Smith 1894–1904. During each period was on Council of the Society. In June 1901 Frances Hodgkins wrote of seeing Mrs Cuningham Smith's flat in London with paintings from OAS exhibitions on the walls; in November

1908 Frances Hodgkins met her when crossing from London to Paris. Mrs Smith was still in London 1920.
