FITCHETT, Margaret or Daisy (Mrs Elmore)

Born Dunedin daughter of Dean Fitchett. Studied at Dunedin Art

School; went to Europe and studied in Dresden under portrait painter Franz Pops, at Julian Academy, Paris under Bouguereau and Ferrier, and under Louis Deschamps. On return to Dunedin took pupils for a time but went back to Europe and studied at the Royal Academy of Copenhagen, under genre painter Vigo Johannsen and miniaturist Laura Saraun. Married and lived in England. Exhibited: OAS 1896–1908. Represented: DPAG.
