HODGKINS, Percy D'Esterre 1873–1956

Born in Dunedin, son of painter W. M. Hodgkins, brother of Isabel Field and Frances Hodgkins. At first went farming in the Wairarapa but left to join the NZ contingent who fought in the Boer War. By 1912 was a civil servant in Wellington; exhibited NZ Academy of Fine Arts Wtn 1912–17, Secretary of Academy 1917. In 1913 he joined D. K. Richmond and Owen Merton in a group show in Wellington.
