BARNES, W. Rodney

Was in Melbourne painting from about 1850–60: artist on the staff of the Melbourne Punch. By 1892 was in Wellington exhibiting with NZ Academy of Fine Arts 1892–94 as a Wellington member, in 1895 as a Wanganui member. In 1893 stayed with the naturalist James Buller at Papaitonga and painted lake views and bush studies. Represented in Turnbull.
