The University senior team has recently come in for much criticism because of its "slow and unimaginative batting." Chief offender has been left hand opening batsman Michael Lance with his 13 in just over three hours against Kilbirnie. Lance seems to have assumed the mantle of former Students' Association President Maicom McCaw as snail pace batsman but when one considers the inconsistencies of such experienced players as Bob Vance, Doug. St. John, Jim Thomson, and John Oakley the value of his innings becomes more apparent
