1.Give the positions of the principal harbours on the northern shore of the Mediterranean, and name the towns that stand on them.
2.Trace the course of the Great Water-parting of Europe. What are the highest mountains that lie upon it?
3.Where are the following towns, and for what are they most celebrated?—Antwerp, Bordeaux, Chemnitz, Florence, Göttingen, Lyons, Milan, Nüremburg, Pisa, Rouen, Strasbourg, Upsala, Valencia.
4.Describe six of the following places:—Scarborough, Brighton, Tonbridge Wells, Harrogate, Torquay, Bournemouth, Cannes, Homburg, Baden-Baden, Lausanne.
5.From what districts of the United Kingdom do we chiefly import cotton goods, woollen goods, iron, pottery, steamers, guns, carpets? At what places in New Zealand are any of these things produced?
6.What do you know about the following places?—Merv, Sarakhs, Herat, the Khyber Pass, Suakin, Berber, Rangoon, Mandalay, Winnipeg, Aspinwall, Rio de Janeiro.
7.Give a general account of the lake and river system of Africa.
8.Draw a map of New Zealand, marking the principal natural products of each district, and showing the chief ports.
