Orakei Block, Waitemata, Auckland District.

Kua riro mai ki a matou, na te Makarini nga pauna moni E rima tekau takitahi £50 1854. 8 July. Auckland District. —hei utu mo tetahi taha o to matou kainga ki Orakei,—E rima tekau hoki e toe ake ana Orakei. mo taua wahi Ko nga rohe enei, Ka timata ki te rohe kua hokona ki a te Kuini, puta noa Boundaries. ki Rapanga Uira, ka witi ki te Ruritanga o te Whaiti raua ho Anaru Hinikare, puta atu ki Orakei.

Translation.

Received from Mr McLean, the sum of Fifty pounds (£50) as payment for a portion land. These are the boundaries—Commencing at the boundary of that portion which has been sold to the Queen, thence to Rapangauira, thence to the boundary (line) Boundaries. surveyed by Mr. White, and Anaru Hinikare (Mr. Andrew Sinclair) and thence to Orakei.

We hereby agree to convey this portion of our land, with our free will, and consent, this day, unto Victoria Queen of England, her successors and assigns for ever.

We further acknowledge to having received the above mentioned sum on this 8th Receipt for £50. day of July 1854.

Translation.

Auckland, 11th July, 1854.
I have now this day received the balance of £50, due upon that portion of the land, 1854. 11 July. defined in the document attached, situate at Orakei—Mr. McLean paid this money. Orakei. This is the final payment for this land (soil), there is no other payment. This is the Orakei. This is the final payment for this land (soil), there is no other payment. This is the final cessation unto the Queen of England for ever and ever.

A hei tohu mo te rironga rawatanga atu o tenei whenua, me te homaitanga o nga utu Te Hira’s claims. whakamutunga mo tenei whenua mo Orakei ka tuhia nei e ahau taku ingoa me toku tohu i tenei ra i te tekau ma tahi o nga ra o Hurae i te tau o to tatou Ariki kotahi mano Receipt for £100. e waru rau e rima tekau ma wha.

Translation.

I have received from Mr. McLean the sum of one hundred pounds in money, as a final 1854. 11 July. payment for our land, for Orakei, which we have conclusively sold to Victoria the Queen Orakei. of England, and to all the Kings or Queens Her successors for ever. And in witness of Te Hira’s claims. page 736our entire abandonment of this land, and of the payment to us of the final payment for this land, for Orakei, I have hereto subscribed my name and mark on this day on Reeeipt for £100. the eleventh of the days of July in the year of our Lord One thousand eight hundred and fifty four.
