Bay of Islands, Augt. 17th, 1838.
Know all men that I John Heke a Native Chief of New Zealand have this day sold and demised for ever to William Green and Thomas Black a plot of Ground Bounded by Tarohea.Boundaries. our ground on the East, by the river Waitangi on the North, on the West by land belonging to Natives, the said ground being called by the different names Tarohea, Pakapaka, Patakataka, in consideration of the following articles which I hereby acknowledge the receipt with my hand and seal, the day and date above written.
1 Double Barreled Gun, 1 Cask of Tobacco, 1 Gown, 1 Spade, 1 Adze. Receipt.
