Te Oneroa Block, Kororareka, Bay op Islands District.

This Indenture made the 24th day of October in the year 1838 Between Ekido a Chief 1838. 24 October.Bay of Islands District. of Kororarika in the Bay of Islands New Zealand of the one part and George Thomas Clayton Master Mariner of the other part Witnesseth That for and in consideration of Oneroa.G. T. Clayton. the sum of Ten pounds lawful money of Great Britain in hand paid by the said George Thomas Clayton to the said Ekido at the time of sealing and delivery hereof the receipt Receipt for £10. whereof is hereby acknowledged He the said Ekido Hath given and granted and by page 178 these presents Doth give grant and confirm unto the said George Thomas Clayton and his heirs All that piece or parcel of land called Te Oneroa adjoining the Hauahine and [3 acres.] running in a direct line to Paroa Bay To have and to hold all and singular the said land hereditaments and premises together with the appurtenances thereunto belonging to him the said George Thomas Clayton his heirs and assigns To the only proper use and behoof of him the said George Thomas Clayton his heirs and assigns for ever And the said Ekido his heirs all and singular the said land hereditaments and premises with their and every of their rights members and appurtenances unto him the said George Thomas Clayton and his heirs against him the said Ekido and his heirs shall and will warrant and for ever defend by these presents. In Witness whereof the parties aforesaid have hereunto set their hands and seals at Kororarika aforesaid the day and year first before written.
