Translation.
1836. 15 June.Learn all men, this document has been drawn up by us on
the 15th of June in the Ngaungau.year of our Lord 1836, as a token that we Witirua, Makutahi, Kawata and
Kawi do Richard Davis.make over to Mr. Davis and his posterity for ever, a portion of land,
twenty acres, more or less; with all upon or under the said land. This land lies
below the Mohoao in Waimate, that land Boundaries. [20 acres.]purchased by Mr. Davis of Huatahi. The above mentioned land is a Pa
(fortification): its name is Ngaungau. Bounded on the West by the land purchased
by Receipt.Mr. Davis of Kohiti: on the South by the Waikaramu or the land purchased by
Mr. Williams of Te Morenga: on the East by the land purchased by Mr. Davis of
Kahia and friends. The payment given to Makutahi and Kawatawata and friends is 25
Dollars and 4 blankets. These are the things given by Mr. Davis as payment.
