….¹ His Majesty's Government in New Zealand would be glad also of an indication of the wishes of His Majesty's Government in the United Kingdom as to the Forestry units, the departure of which has been deferred as a result of your telegram of 10 July (No. 300). This postponement, it was understood, was intended to enable them to join convoy US 4, but if, as is apparently now the case, this convoy is to proceed to the Middle East, some other arrangements must necessarily be made for the Forestry units.

It will be appreciated also if an indication could be given of the wishes of His Majesty's Government in the United Kingdom with reference to the two Army Troops companies of New Zealand Engineers which are at present being held in camp here, and

particularly whether it is intended to despatch these to the Middle East or to the United Kingdom. The Transportation units have already been referred to in my telegram of 23 July (No. 302).
