the author: Frazer D. Norton served in 26 Battalion in the later stages of the campaign in Italy until the end of the war. Born at Timaru in 1920, he was educated at Tapanui District High School and John McGlashan College, Dunedin, and at Otago University. He joined the civil service in 1939 and is at present on the staff of the Housing Division of the Ministry of Works in Wellington.
