the author: Robin L. Kay was born at Waipawa in 1919, educated at the Gisborne High School, Christ's College and Victoria University College, where he graduated BA, and was a reporter on the Times, Palmerston North, before the war; he was with the 2 NZEF Public Relations Service in the Middle East and is now on the staff of the War History Branch.
