§ 14. Common Nouns as Adjectives.

—Any common noun may be used as an adjective, indicating material, purpose, etc. (§ 23).

Examples.

  • He whare kowhatu, a stone house.

  • He rua kumara, a pit for kumara.

  • He tunga whare, a site for a house.
