[Sydney « Hansard » men unfairly treated]
Some of the Sydney « Hansard » men (says the Shorthand Journal) have been unfairly treated in the consideration of the current estimates. Several of the regular staff applied for increases of salary, but only the applications of the chief and the second in command were allowed to go forward. These gentlemen got their increases; but the real plodders, who waste their energies in putting into shape the dreary twaddle flung off in the halls of legislation, were politely told to possess their souls in patience.
