The Secretary of State for Dominion Affairs to the Governor-General of New Zealand

My telegram of 28 June (No. 296). The War Office has now been notified by the Commander-in-Chief, Middle East, of the requirements of railway transportation units in that theatre and it appears likely that all the New Zealand Transportation units which have been raised will be needed there. The Middle East requirements are now being examined in detail and as soon as this examination is completed a further telegram will be sent. We assume that the New Zealand

Government would see no objection in principle to the employment in the Middle East of the New Zealand Transportation units whose departure from New Zealand was deferred as a result of my telegram.
