III.
On the Election of Synodsmen.

1. That, until the number of persons in each Parish shall have been ascertaiued, it be left to the Bishop to determine the number of Synodsmen to be elected by each Parish.
2. That the month of December be the time for the election of Synodsmen by the several Parishes.
3. That the Returning Officers be appointed by the Bishop, and that they have power to appoint deputy Returning Officerspage 41
4. Every voting paper for the election of Synodsmen shall contain a declaration, that the voter is a member of the Church of England and Ireland in New Zealand. A single voting paper may contain the votes of one or more voters.
5. That the Returning Officers shall give notice to the Church Members in his district, of the time for the election of Synodsmen; such notice to be issued by him during the month of November.
6. When any person shall have been elected Synodsman, he shall not hold office before the first of January, nor after the thirty-first day of December of the year for which he was elected Synodsman.
7. Immediately upon the election of a Synodsman for any Parish, the Returning Officer shall notify the same in writing to the Bishop; and the voting papers shall be delivered to the Bishop by the Synodsmen at the time of the meeting of the Synod.
8. In the case of a vacancy occurring in the representation of any Parish by death or resignation, the Returning Officer of the District shall procure the election of another Synodsman by the members of the same Parish: such Synodsman to be elected within two months from the date of the death or resignation of the first elected Synodsman.
9. That disputed elections shall be decided by the Synod.
10.Form of voting paper;

I (we) being a member (members) of the Church of England and Ireland in New Zealand, do hereby vote for as Synodsman for this Parish for the ensuing year.
